FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • We want to make sure volunteers feel comfortable, supported, and connected to opportunities that fit their interests and strengths! Volunteer opportunities may include supporting fundraising events (selling merchandise, event set-up and clean-up, assisting with check-in), truck events (including loading, unloading, preparation, and event support), programming support (such as mock interviews and alumni engagement events), representing DIRT alongside staff at community resource fairs, and other miscellaneous projects like landscaping, organization, cleaning, or construction support as needed.

  • Our volunteer program is designed to be flexible and accessible. We do not require a set number of volunteer hours each month, and opportunities vary throughout the year based on organizational needs and events. Most volunteer shifts range from 2–5 hours, and volunteers are welcome to participate as often or as little as works best for their schedule.

  • All volunteers are asked to complete a brief orientation with a DIRT staff member before participating in volunteer opportunities. Orientations are typically offered quarterly in a group setting, but individual orientations can also be scheduled as needed. No additional formal training is required for most volunteer roles.

  • No specific professional experience is required to volunteer with DIRT! We are simply looking for individuals who are excited to give back, build community, and connect with our participants, customers, and mission. A willingness to learn, support others, and contribute positively goes a long way.
